David-Lozeau-Photo

David Lozeau has a quirky, character-driven style that wraps Day of the Dead iconography in a Wild West aesthetic, measures historical accuracy against Lowbrow absurdity, and blends fine art technique with cartoon cel humor to reveal his unique perspective on life, death, and all the interesting stuff in between.

David layers acrylics, gouache, and enamel to create vibrant, unforgettable paintings with interesting narratives and tight line work and then builds his own custom wood frames with rusty metal or worn leather adornments to complete his vision for each piece.
His Day of the Dead art turns the annual celebration on its ear through his use of bold colors, exaggerated features, and impeccable details. DLo’s Wild West art is rooted in American cowboy gunslinger lore where there was only a very fine line between a marshal and an outlaw. David’s Lowbrow art pays homage to everything from Greek mythology to the kustom kulture hot rod scene with flesh-eating horses, skeleton mechanics, and samurai warriors. And his Oceanic art is anything but typical, depicting steampunk divers, tiki-hoarding octopus, and underwater robot invasions. David Lozeau has shown his art in galleries on three continents, collaborated with Disney and Harley-Davidson, been juried into the artist guild at the Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park, won awards at fine art exhibitions, and been featured in countless magazines and books.
